Job Opening: Product Designer

We are looking for an entrepreneurial and experienced product designer to help us reimagine the antiquated staffing industry. Our product isn’t an app; it's the labor we deploy into warehouses and manufacturing facilities throughout the country (and eventually, the world). In addition to collaborating with software engineers, you’ll also work closely with our field teams to design practical on-the-floor solutions for our light industrial customers. This role reports to our Head of Product (who is also a designer) and brings over 20 years of Series A through D experience from some of the world’s most iconic and successful tech brands. You will also partner closely with our founders and leadership team to bring our product vision to life.

About You

  • Champion the user: You speak in journeys, slay friction, and always love adding a good default to form. You are a fierce advocate for Usability and Accessibility.
  • First-principles thinking: You spend as much time thinking about “why” as you do “how.”
  • Impeccable design craft: You have excellent taste and attention to detail. You appreciate how small nuanced interactions can create seamless and intuitive interfaces.
  • Systems thinker: You’ll be an author of our design system, defining the foundational UI patterns, governance and process for our FE engineering and design teams.
  • Inventive and scrappy: You can use design to solve any problem: hardware, software, service, and some good ol’ fashioned tape and glue.
  • Deeply collaborative: You’ll work closely with everyone around the company, as well as our users, to form and solve a wide variety of ideas and problems.
  • Intuitive, adaptable, humble: You thrive in a fast-paced, always-growing environment. You structure ambiguity, iterating quickly and without ego to the best solution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and steward our design system and brand identity
  • Solve operational problems with a mix of hardware, software and service design
  • Push a lot of pixels in Figma - software is the primary lever for scaling manual ops
  • Quickly prototype your work to help your colleagues evaluate your designs
  • Evolve the business and worker experience in our native and web apps
  • Scale manual ops efforts using our Ops Console (internal-facing software)
  • Deeply understand, frame and visualize the needs of our businesses and workers
  • Visualize abstractions (like the flow of data in our systems) to facilitate input and action
  • Bootstrap user research to quickly validate concepts and usability
  • Socialize your work feely and solicit plenty of feedback

Requirements

  • 5+ years of in-house software design experience.
  • A demonstrable track record of solving complex UX and UI problems.
  • Mastery of software design tools (e.g., Figma).
  • Built and/or significantly contributed to multiple design systems.
  • Strong understanding of how software is built (ideally, you can code).
  • Experience validating your designs with informal usability testing.
  • Evidence of shipping features and user experiences that have moved the needle.
  • Desire to work at a startup and cover a very large surface.
  • A strong and ambitious work ethic, ideally the drive to make a dent.
  • Eternally optimistic and pleasant to work with.

  • 📈 Start-up equity
  • 💰 Competitive Salary
  • 🩺 100% Paid health, dental & vision coverage
