Materials Library Creative Lead
Materials Library
The Materials Library is a handling collection of some of the most wondrous materials on earth, gathered from sheds, kitchens, workshops, labs, and factories around the world. The original Materials Library collection is based in our Bloomsbury workshop, with a second collection currently being built inside our Stratford workshop.
Responsibilities
As Materials Library Creative Lead you will be responsible for a mix of creative display, collections management, and communication and engagement work across both sites. You will be responsible for creating playful and engaging multi-sensory materials displays, and imaginatively improving our digital catalogue and other user interfaces to make them enticing to multidisciplinary staff, students, and public audiences. You will also be responsible for the day-to-day administration and care of the collections and will be the first point of contact for eclectic and wonderful enquiries about materials from our members and public audiences.
Ideal Candidate
This role would be perfect for someone from a creative background who has a flair for the visual, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a broad understanding of materials and processes. The ideal candidate would be someone enthusiastic, flexible, and organized who thrives when doing a mix of creative hands-on tasks and administrative, organizational work.
Team Collaboration
You will work closely with our Head of Materials Library Sarah, as well as the rest of our small, dynamic, friendly, and supportive Institute of Making team.
