What We’re Looking For:

We’re seeking a Freelance Part-Time Graphic Designer who is passionate about creating engaging designs for brands and live events including visual identities, event signage, posters, maps, packaging, and more.

You’re not just a designer—you’re a visual storyteller. A strategic thinker. Someone who cares about concept development and intention to find what best executes a client’s vision. You don’t just follow trends, you start them. We want someone who can understand a client’s goal and turn that into accessible, tangible visuals that resonate with their audience.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Via Visual team to design unique branding elements that go beyond the basics—think logos, signage, packaging, mockups, and more.
• Develop visual identities that speak to a brand's mission and resonate with its target audience.
• Apply principles of typography, color theory, and data to create meaningful and impactful designs.
• Occasionally visit venues in Austin for project scouting, signage measurements, and overseeing installations.
• Maintain open and clear communication with the team, delivering projects on time and within scope.
• Embrace collaboration and actively participate in brainstorming sessions to push creative boundaries.
• Minimum 15-20 hours per month, varies based on client projects + needs.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
• A portfolio showcasing a variety of projects with a focus on storytelling through graphic design.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Google Slides and other relevant design tools.
• Strong understanding of color theory, typography, design trends and layout design.
• Possess a strong visual aesthetic with the ability to see the big picture, as well as the tiny details.
• Ability to handle feedback and pivot designs based on client or team needs.
• Stay proactive and demonstrate ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Possess the level of professionalism to work alongside clients of all levels.
• Continual awareness of cultural events and trends.
• Flexibility in your schedule, with the ability to accommodate occasional weekend work typically related to live events.
• Must be local to the Austin metro area and available to attend in-person meetings when needed.
• Experience with preparing files for print.
• Familiarity with web design platforms and AI tools is a bonus.
• Proficiency in one or more of the following will give you an advantage: Adobe Lightroom, Adobe After Effects, Procreate, Web Design (SquareSpace, Wix, Webflow, etc), Adobe Express, Adobe Firefly
