Senior Textile Designer Position

We are seeking a talented Senior Textile Designer with specialized expertise in hand-block printing. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the field, preferably with a background from NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology) or a comparable institution. As a Senior Textile Designer, you will be responsible for leading and executing creative projects, conceptualizing designs, and collaborating closely with our production team to ensure high-quality textile products.

Responsibilities:

1. Design & Product Creation:

• Develop and implement creative textile designs focusing on hand-block printing techniques, while understanding the brand’s design language.
• Research and stay updated on industry trends, materials, and techniques relevant to textile design.
• Collaborate with the product development team to translate design concepts into feasible products that meet market demands.
• Create detailed design briefs, sketches, and prototypes to communicate design ideas effectively.
• Conduct quality control checks to ensure that final products meet design specifications and standards.
• Manage and prioritize multiple projects while adhering to deadlines and budget constraints.

1. Brand Content Creation:

• Work closely with the marketing team to create visually appealing content that aligns with the brand’s aesthetic and vision.
• Design marketing materials, including lookbooks, social media graphics, and promotional content, showcasing new designs and collections.
• Provide creative direction for photo shoots and promotional campaigns to highlight the unique aspects of the textile designs.
• Collaborate with the brand team to maintain consistency in branding and design across all platforms.

1. Capturing the Process of Making the Product:

• Document the hand-block printing process, capturing each stage from design conception to the final product.
• Create visual and written content that illustrates the craftsmanship and techniques involved in the production process.
• Produce high-quality content for marketing and educational purposes while on the workshop floor.
• Share the stories and traditions behind the hand-block printing techniques to engage and educate the audience.

1. Mentorship:

• Mentor and provide guidance to junior designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Textile Design or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in textile design, specifically in hand-block printing.
• Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop), Procreate and familiarity with CAD software is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of color theory, textile materials, and printing techniques.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• A strong portfolio showcasing original designs and projects in textile design, particularly in hand-block printing.
