UX Designer - Part Time (20hrs / week)
About Tandem
The way office space works and the industry behind it is getting completely flipped on its head right now. We are in the middle of a MAJOR disruption driven by two things:
Over 50% of office space is currently sitting empty in US cities.
Hybrid and remote work are here to stay. The five-days-in-the-office workweek is going away forever for many, many, many jobs.
Tandem is a marketplace tech company solving these problems by enabling the next generation of office space. Check us at out Tandem.space - you’ll see hundreds of spaces on our marketplace. We match, service, and enable companies every day to find their perfect office space, and we’re just getting started.
We’re a small, experienced team - currently we have 10 full-time employees. Tandem has an all-star founding team, and you would work directly with the Engineering and Product co-founders, who previously worked at Google and Instacart.
What we’re looking for
DESIGN SKILLS - You must have the design chops to bring ideas to life:
- 3-8 years of UX design experience required, ideally including experience at an early-stage startup.
- Figma experience required - this will be your main tool day-to-day.
- You should be able to design beautiful, intuitive web interfaces! Experience building both desktop and web interfaces is a must, including interaction design.
- Experience with marketplaces is a plus.
OWNERSHIP / CHARACTER - We are all owners:
- We are all owners at Tandem, no one is a ticket-taker - we’re looking for a go-getter with extreme levels of ownership and an A+ positive / get-shit-done attitude.
- Team player who takes responsibility, is proactive and has extremely strong communication skills.
About the Role
What you’ll be doing:
You’ll be designing web interfaces, both mobile and desktop, for the Tandem marketplace! This includes both marketing/landing pages and logged-in user experiences. Expect to be working alongside Tandem’s engineering and product leaders to bring ideas to life, redesigning existing pages, turning PRDs into designs, etc. This will include working cross-functionally with sales & operations and may also include customer research.
Logistics:
This is a part-time gig at 20 hours/week, but expect to feel like part of the team! You’ll collaborate especially with the engineers and product manager. You’ll be in Slack, join syncs and launch reviews, etc. The exact hours you choose to work are fairly flexible (we do not log hours), but we work generally 9-5 California time and we will expect you to be available to join calls and collaborate during at least a portion of those hours. As this is a part-time flexible role, we expect you to have strong communication skills and be proactive.
The pay range for this part-time role is $4k- $6k/month.
Location - SF or Remote OK
We’re open to folks who want to work fully remotely or who want to come into our office in San Francisco. If you are in the SF area and able to come in periodically that is a plus but not required (our office is in Soma).
