The Team

Our Mobile Apps Platform team is responsible for the core architecture, infrastructure, operational practices, and design governance that enable our Candidate Domain teams to deliver high quality mobile experiences for our SEEK, Jobsdb, and Jobstreet apps.

Our ambition is to deliver world class apps that delight our candidates by enabling teams to build consistent, beautiful, reliable, and secure apps at scale. We focus on tactical and strategic initiatives that help maintain our platform health, introduce new platform capabilities, and elevate the user experience.

About the role

As the Android Engineer (Apps Design) you will support delivery of system practices, standardized UI components, and frameworks that will empower our teams to create seamless and fabulous mobile experiences for our Android platform.

With your experience in front-end architecture, passion for elegant UI design and delivery of scalable intuitive frameworks, you will collaborate with our engineering, product, and design teams to translate our design ambition into beautiful and engaging experiences for our customers.

You will contribute to find opportunities that can redefine our design system, incorporate new trends in Android user-interaction, and apply inclusive design best practices that can elevate the user experience offered through our platform.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver initiatives across the design system, front-end architecture, frameworks, and governance process to enable a consistent and cohesive experience in alignment with SEEK’s design language.
  • Implement frameworks, APIs, and tooling that is easy to use, robust, scalable, and highly performant.
  • Contribute to the team’s innovation process identifying new opportunities to adopt emerging technologies, design system trends, and platform interaction patterns,
  • Collaborate with multi-functional team and support the strategy, planning, and implementation of technical roadmaps and goals and milestones that can deliver on SEEK’s design vision.
  • Adopt technology, design, and delivery best practices such as inclusive design principles (accessibility), agile delivery, dev ops, and platform engineering.
  • Contribute to improve the team’s capabilities and culture through knowledge sharing and support of team members.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Good understanding of native app design standards (Google Material Design), accessibility standards, and cross-platform design.
  • You have a keen eye for design, attention to detail, and push the level of craft in the apps and design system, valuing polished, delightful, intuitive, and engaging experiences.
  • You are passionate about solving sophisticated UI problems and delivering simple solutions that can scale across iOS/Android platforms.
  • Experience collaborating with multi-functional teams to deliver frameworks, UI components, APIs, and practices used by other teams to build complex front-ends for mobile apps.
  • You will have experience building scalable solutions for design systems, front-end architecture, and component libraries for Android platforms.
  • You have experience rolling out visual languages and familiar with strategies to maintain cohesive and consistent visual style across iOS, Android, and Web platforms.
  • You are familiar with inclusive design practices and implementing UI accessible components for apps
  • You are an open-minded team member, with natural curiosity to embrace new challenges, learn, and develop new skills.
