Join The Crew
We are hiring an Assistant Designer to join our Product Design team. This position reports to the Design Director, Bags, and Accessories and takes Away further by bringing their sense of excitement and enthusiasm while executing the modern designs through all steps of the development process.
What you'll do as the Assistant Designer
- You’ll build new and exciting product designs alongside the product design team
- You’ll lead implementing new design material and color libraries to further maintain Away design standards
- You’ll assist in the design of our growing line of bags and accessories
- You’ll provide support in hand sketching, CAD, and technical drawings in Illustrator
- You’ll review material lab dips and organize trims and hardware, to ensure all materials are accounted for at various stages in the design process
- You’ll maintain knowledge of current trends and relevant products on the market, as well as user-centered methodology
Who you are
- You're a creative and solution-oriented designer
- You’re extremely detail-oriented and organized with an open and receptive communication style
- You’re proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- You have an understanding of minimal design, color theory, product construction and have the ability to measure samples
- You’re flexible with the ability to prioritize multiple projects, and take responsibility for deadlines
- You’re a team player with a "no task is too small" attitude
- You’re creative and innovative; you love to build great new things that are fresh and unique while staying on brand
- You’re agile, and motivated by a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
- You’re passionate about transforming travel for all (but that’s a given!)

What We Offer
Our total rewards are inclusive of both compensation and benefits. What we offer within a salary range is dependent on a number of factors, including scope and qualifications for the role, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to other Away employees. Salary and benefit offerings are reviewed during phone screenings to ensure alignment.
- Compensation Range: $68,000.00 - $70,000.00 annually
- This role is eligible to participate in Away’s Annual Company Performance Incentive Bonus Plan, the terms of which are determined at the discretion of the company
- Equity Grant: commensurate with level determined at the discretion of the company

How We Work

This is a hybrid role that comes into our Soho, NYC office twice weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The working hours are 9 am-6 pm ET.
