Contract Senior Product Designer (Remote, United States)

The product team's vision
The product team's vision is to make buying insurance a simple and enjoyable user experience. We are looking for a contract Senior Product Designer to develop creative strategies and deliver accessible solutions towards that vision. Product Designers work cross-functionally with product management and engineering to ensure their team crafts well-rounded experiences. This role reports directly to our Director of Product Design.
Compensation
This contract position is subject to receiving between $60.14/hr and $70.16 per hour. The wage will be confirmed based on various factors, including experience, skills, and insights gathered during the interview process. We strive to ensure fair and equitable pay aligned with market standards and each individual's value to the role. This is a contract position and not eligible for benefits.
Location
This is a fully remote contract role within the United States. We support flexible work environments while ensuring alignment across time zones to collaborate effectively with our team.
What You'll Do
- Create intuitive, usable, and engaging design solutions.
- Be accountable for high-quality design practices, using available data to inform decisions and following design patterns.
- Balance advocacy for our users with business needs. Your work will support our vision to become a go-to insurance shopping destination while maintaining a focus on monetization.
- Build experiences through an agile, iterative process. Rapidly produce multiple concepts, knowing when to be pixel-perfect and when a low-fi sketch will do.
- Take full ownership of your work and responsibility for the user experience.
- Add to our collaborative working environment by communicating clearly on a multi-disciplinary team.
- Lead design meetings and facilitate knowledge sharing, collaboration, and decision-making.
What We're Looking For
We look for folks who have a strong sense of ownership, excellent communication and collaboration skills, and a dedication to continuous improvement.
- 5+ years (or equivalent) of experience designing consumer-facing experiences.
- Strong design portfolio that demonstrates depth of skill in both UX and UI.
- Experience communicating and demonstrating prototypes in various states of polish to coworkers and stakeholders using various tools (Figma, etc).
- Excellent communicator. You communicate design perspectives clearly and concisely to teammates in UX writing, research, product management, engineering, and other design disciplines.
- People-focused design mentality with a strong understanding of usability and user experience principles.
- Uses quantitative and qualitative data to make educated design decisions and validate user needs.
- Thoughtful cross-functional partner. You aren't afraid to ask questions and look for opportunities to improve working relationships and processes.
- Experience leading the end-to-end design process or agile sprints.
