About Miko

Miko is a conversational robot designed for kids aged 4 to 8 years old. Primarily sold in the US, the flagship robots Miko 3 and Miko Mini engage, educate and entertain kids. Along with the robot, Miko also offers an app called the Miko App. This app features games, shows, and activities aimed at both entertainment and learning for kids, along with progress reports and video calling features for the parents.

Job Description

We are seeking a talented and experienced Design Lead to join our dynamic team in Mumbai. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing products for children aged between 4-8 years old, with a significant emphasis on screen-based applications. Experience working with US-based children's products is a major plus. The Design Lead will primarily focus on the Miko App, ensuring a seamless integration of educational and entertainment driven content with engaging design elements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor the design team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Oversee the design and user experience of the Miko App, ensuring it is engaging, educational, and user-friendly for children aged 4 to 8.
  • Collaborate closely with the Product and Tech teams to ensure the design vision is implemented effectively.
  • Conduct user research and usability testing to gather feedback and make data-driven design decisions.
  • Stay updated with the latest design trends and best practices in children’s educational apps.
  • Ensure the design adheres to safety and privacy standards, particularly those relevant to children's products.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of experience in design, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership role; proven experience in leading design teams and managing design projects from conception to completion.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing design work on kids’ products, with an emphasis on screen-based applications.
  • Experience working on products for US kids is a significant advantage.
  • Deep understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Based in or willing to relocate to Mumbai, India and work in a hybrid mode.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with educational apps and a focus on learning rather than purely entertainment.
  • Familiarity with design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.
  • Knowledge of child psychology and developmental stages to inform design decisions.
