As a Sr. Staff Designer and leader within the organization, you’ll actively define what design quality means within Discord Design, and collaborate across teams to define and execute future evolutions of the product.
Platform Ecosystems Team Role
On the Platform Ecosystems team, you will partner with UXR, Product Managers, Engineers, and Data Scientists on the Platform Ecosystems team to craft intuitive and delightful experiences for two critical audiences: app developers who bring delightful activities, bots, and games to the platform, and users who need intuitive ways to discover and enjoy them with friends. You will combine deep user empathy with a balance of UX, UI, prototyping, and visual design skills to enable frictionless experiences, and mentor a growing team of designers in doing the same.
Responsibilities
- Craft the standard for visual caliber and quality within Discord.
- Lead vision-setting initiatives across teams.
- Partner with the Platform Ecosystems Design Director to lead team rituals and eliminate design debt.
- Mentor a growing team of designers.
- Detangle and simplify the Apps user experience.
- Actively mold the design organization.
What You Should Have
- 8+ years of experience designing consumer-facing products.
- Experience in leading designers or teams at an initiative level.
- Strong, pro-active communication skills.
- Desire to deeply understand the "why" before defining the "how."
- High level of design craft and commitment to maintaining a high bar for design implementation.
- Portfolio showcasing large-scale, high impact projects for desktop and mobile.
